Coulomb Potential
The Coulomb potential describes the potential felt by two charged particles: particles with the same electric charge repel each other, while particles of opposite charge attract each other.

The Coulomb potential between a particle of charge and a particle of charge at distance from each other is given by
This potential gives rise to a force , which is used in Newton’s equation of motion
to simulate the trajectory of the particles. To keep the simulation stable, a soft core repulsion is added to the potential and prevents the particles from overlapping.
